I think I have my major picked out, but what if I want to change it later? Can I go from something like nutrition to something harder like pre dentistry? Are there restrictions on what majors you can change to? Thanks :)

Pre-dental does not require a specific major, though there are course requirements (which can vary by dental school).

As far as changing majors goes, it depends on the college. A college with sufficient capacity in all major may allow you to change majors freely as long as you have taken the prerequisites that will allow on-time graduation (i.e. don’t expect to be able to change into the physics major in your third year after not having taken any college level physics or math courses), but a college where some or all majors are at capacity may require a high GPA or competitive admission process to change major.

The larger the school, such as public universities, the harder it is to switch schools and/or majors. Private schools, on the other hand, allow you a much easier time to change.

^ maybe its just here, but at Penn State, the 10th largest school by enrollment, you can change your major to basically anything not Business or Engineering at your will.

If you are not sure, most schools offer “undecided” as an option to apply as, and will help you figure out. Thats what I did, and I found out college chem isn’t my thing, so Toxicology was out :P
