changing major

Transfer students are admitted as Pre-Financial Actuarial
Mathematics majors and MUST apply to the Financial Actuarial Mathematics major
after their first term at UCLA.

Does it mean that you can’t change to other majors like Mathematics/Economics/B.S.?

I am not sure about your specific major but I head changing majors into impacted majors is usually hard and usually you have to petition if you meet all of the requirements. Call UCLA and see what they say. I am sure it’s not impossible to change your major, just more hoops to jump through. Sorry I couldn’t help! Good luck.

Thank you for your help! It seems that it’s hard to change major after transferring to UCLA.

transfer students are not allowed to change majors into Econ. See https://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/lsmajors/econ_pre.htm

@taotao88, It’s easier to transfer into an impacted major if they’re in the same department. That doesn’t mean they will allow you to, but it’s possible. I know of two people who did it (Econ and English), plus I have an email from the English dept at UCLA saying you can switch from Am Lit to English (selective) once in the dept. You, however, want to jump into what looks like a joint dept major. Plus it seems to clearly be saying you can’t do it if you choose actuary. I would email and ask straight out. Better yet, why not just pick the major you want out the gate? They have the same admitted GPA.

Hello, i go to a two year community college and i want to change my major. Is it better to change major in the beginning of the semester? Do you know if changing majors in cc is hard or not?
