changing major

hi i m a freshman of fall 2018 as social science(undeclared) and i ll try my best to change my major.
i try to schedule for my first semester and just realized that some classes are restricted based on specific majors. for instance, data science requires ics classes which i can’t enroll. However, on the website of changing major, i should take ics classes to apply data science major.
please tell me how they usually work about class restrictions. do i have to ask data science advisor to get rid of restriction? or is there any other way

p.s i know changing major to data science from social science is almost impossible, but i just want to know how people work

thank u

Ask your advisors. This is going to be very specific to your individual university.
