Hello! I was recently accepted to be a Helen Faison scholar at the University of Pittsburgh. This diversity scholarship includes full tuition, average room and board, and a $2000 research stipend, at the Dietrich College of Arts and Sciences. I feel so incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship.
I originally planned to go into pre medicine. However, after a lot of thought, I believe that nursing would be a better fit for me, in terms of schooling and lifestyle. I hope to eventually become a nurse practitioner.
However, this would require me switching from Dietrich to the School of Nursing at Pitt. If I switched schools once on campus, would I lose my merit scholarship? There are two separate diversity merit scholarships for the two schools. Or would the scholarship still be received, and I would just receive the one for the School of Nursing instead? Both scholarships offer the same amount, they just go by different names, and apply to different schools.
Congrats on your acceptance and scholarship! Do you have contact information for the Pitt Enrollment Services Manager for your region? If so, I would encourage you to call them and talk through your situation/questions.
Alternatively, you are welcome to call our main number and someone on our staff can assist you: 412-624-7488.
If you can’t switch the scholarship to nursing, you might also consider exploring your interests in the School of Arts and Sciences with your scholarship and keeping your options open.
Hello everyone! I sent an email to Pitt, and they said that if one switches schools, they would still have their full scholarship! Thank you to everyone who replied and helped out
