Need advice. D24 got off Chapman Dodge and NYU WL in the past week! Still in shock. No FA at NYU, decent package at Dodge. I’m excited about Dodge coz it’s close to home and the industry, but she’s looking for a change and wants to go to NYU. I know NYU is extremely prestigious and she’s psyched, but is it worth the cost, being in the big city without a safe contained campus? She will be inspired and challenged no doubt but looking for some words of wisdom from students/parents. Help, we have till Sunday to decide.
Dodge is more prestigious for that specific field than NYU. If it’s also less expensive, jump on it!!

All I know is if you turn down NYU, you will make someone else on that WL very happy. Best of luck.
It’s the kind of field where prestige is nice, but the reality is most will end up in different careers or supplementing careers with other part time work.
So you have to be comfortable with the cost of NYU. Of course, some will make it but will it be yours?
For most, it’s a poor risk/reward but everyone’s risk tolerance is different.

If you are wealthy enough to write $100k checks with no concern, then let your kid enjoy Manhattan for 4 years. Otherwise, Chapman is the easy answer.
