Chapman University Fall 2014 Transfer?

Hello Everyone!

I’m a Hispanic student currently attending SJSU. I’m just wondering who is applying as a transfer student for next Fall 2014. I’m applying as an Business Admin major. I’m also thinking on playing soccer for the school. I’m interested on trying out for their soccer team as I’m already playing club at SJSU, and feel like I could have a great chance to finally play for a NCAA team.

I only have an issue with my grades. I got a D in my history class this past Fall semester. I had a family emergency towards the end of the semester which prevented me from getting a better grade in the class. However, I have gotten A’s and B’s on all the classes required to transfer as a Business Admin. major.

Based on all the information given, what do you guys think are my chances of getting into the Argyros School of Business and Economics?

My college gpa as of right now is 2.99

My HS final gpa was: 3.4
EC’s

  1. Jefferson Awards Club - had the chance to travel to New Orleans and build house with
“Habitat for Humanity”; also traveled to “Washington DC” for the national JA competition as my school won the regional competition in 2012.
  2. Club Soccer
  3. Varsity Cross Country
  4. Varsity Swim
  5. Interact Club
  6. Men’s Choir
  7. Summer Jobs

Did you retake that history class? If you retake it, it will boost your GPA and show them that it was just a fluke. I would highly recommend retaking the class.

Your extra curricular’s are great, but your GPA is a little low. Are you applying as a junior or sophomore? That would make a difference in whether or not they evaluate your high school GPA (which is a strong GPA for Chapman).

I applied as a junior with a 3.41 for Political Science and was accepted yesterday. I wish you the best of luck!

Hi hepburn95, I am transferring as a junior which means they STILL require me to submit my HS transcript. As a matter of fact, I visited the school during winter break and met up with the transfer director of admission who went over my coursework and it matches the requirements for Chapman. I was very picky when choosing my classes every semester as I had to make sure they were actually transferable to Chapman otherwise I was just wasting time.

Thank you so much and congratulations on being admitted to Chapman!

How did you find out you were accepted? via mail? or email?

Also a Fall 2014 transfer, applying into Dodge as a Film Production major.
“Decision Reached” a few days ago, Waiting to hear back-- fingers crossed!

@MikeMo Where does it say decision reached for you? I’ve been trying to figure out where to get the web advisor information. Via email? Mail?

@dancenfool I had to call the Chapman service desk to get my WebAdvisor information because they never sent it to me after I applied.

@MikeMo same here, I had to call as well. Thank you for the help! I hope you were admitted. You got lucky to have your status change so soon cause Dodge is usually the last to hear

Hey guys,

I applied on March 14 . How long do it take to get your web advisor login? It’s been a week. Also, how long did it take Chapman to send an email stating that they received your application?

my decision has been reached (as of 3/19). just checked today, that was fast! Should be hearing back in the mail sometime this week I guess

I got into the accounting major today! Shocked at how fast that was. Good luck everybody!

@stanx89 some of us had to call and ask admissions for our student numbers and log in for web advisor.

Did anyone get a request for mid semester grades?
I’m applying from the University of Alabama with a 3.79 first semester GPA and a 3.67 high school GPA
So I don’t know if its good or bad I got the Grade request

@OrangeCounty95 According to their tumblr account, it’s not good nor bad. But in my opinion it means you’re at the borderline of being admitted or not.

Just got accepted to Chapman for graphic design!! Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone,
I am also a junior transfer and my GPA is a 3.51 currently, but I do have some W’s on my transcripts which does make me nervous about being admitted. I am applying as a health science major. I was asked to get a midterm report for my Chemistry class which I am getting an A in. I submitted it today and my application status says decision pending. Hoping to find out soon!

Hi all. I applied for the Digital Arts (anyone else?) major right on the transfer deadline and I’m hoping a few Pass grades won’t strike me down too much. Probably won’t hear back until May but hopefully I get some good news! Good luck to you all!

I had 3 classes pass/no pass and 3 W’s (all same quarter for a surgery)…don’t think it really matters unless you are withdrawing almost every semester or something. good luck

I received an email on March 28th stating that my Chapman file was complete and had been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review. For those of you that have been accepted, how long did it take you to hear back from when you got an email like the one I mentioned above?
Thanks!

I received an email on 4/15 saying my application is complete, for those of you that have been accepted already, how long did it take to hear back with a decision?
I applied as a Public Relations and Advertising major to Dodge, I have a 3.0 (which I understand is not the most competitive) but I believe my application was well rounded and I have strong extra curricular activities specific to my major. Do you guys have an idea of what my chances are? I’ve been accepted to USD, which from what I’ve spoken to counselors about is about as competitive as Chapman. Any info helps!
