Chapman is my DC’s first choice. We toured and were very impressed. They seem to be on a mission to gain a national reputation. Anyone with students currently attending, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
No kids there, but friends kids recently applied - loved the campus, apparently its beautiful, and the film program is highly regarded (and ultra competitive) but have heard a mix of good and bad from non-film students, like most colleges. Maybe Reddit will have more info for you? Good luck to her!
Check out some of the 2028 threads. This was my kid’s first choice last year. She was accepted to Dodge but did not attend because it was out of budget. The NPC was not accurate for Dodge majors (they told us the competitiveness of Dodge affects scholarship levels) and FAFSA problems did a number on the aid package timeline. That being said, we found the online presentations regarding state of the university and admitted students events to be very informative and forward thinking, DD would’ve attended if it was affordable.
Son is in his second year as a Data science major. He is a student that may have struggled in a huge UC environment so we appreciate the medium size and small class sizes. Chapman students appear friendly and engaged. He has made good friends as well as stays in touch with his other friends that attend nearby So. Cal schools. The area seems very safe. The school tries to keep parents connected with consistent communications and opportunities for visits.
Note that their GPA for admissions is weighted while most colleges note the unweighted GPA. And they pride themselves on the fact that the amount of credits necessary for graduation is so low that students can graduate in 3 years. We have experience from 2017 and it was bad. The leadership is incompetent so it trickles down to all administration. It’s not a well-run school, doubtful it will ever gain a national reputation.
