Cheap blue blazer for 14 year old

Help! I’m hoping that one of you experienced parents of boys out there can tell me who sells normal inexpensive blue blazers for boys. I need to find one by the end of this weekend. Sears and Kohls no longer carry them at all. Burlington Coat Factory had nothing left in small sizes, probably because of the number of prep schools in the area. The kid is 5’4, 100 lbs. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a Men’s Wearhouse sort of store?

If you’re not opposed, you might try a consignment store. Also, I’d call around to dept stores, rather than running. I think Lord & Taylor has a nice selection of kids’ preppy & uniform style clothing.

Land’s End, Talbot Kids both sell boys’ blazers for under $100.

Goodwill and Salvation Army…or a consignment shop…those have been where we have gotten ALL of DS’s blue blazers since he was a kidlet…under $20.

Great ideas everyone! Love the thrift shop idea but unfortunately I have put this chore off to the last minute and I need to be efficient with time and gas. I refuse to invest in anything expensive as he seems to be growing about an inch a month. Next trip out in a couple of hours, also have to get sports gear.

JC Penney near you? Their prices are fairly modest but not nearly as good as a used one.

Do you live anywhere near a Sym’s? They would definitely have what you want.

JC Penney’s went out of business here, but I think it still exists over the border in Mass. Called Old Navy, they don’t carry them, off to try Macy’s and Target, thanks again everyone for the help!

Larger-sized neighbors can also be of assistance. ;)

Sears. But we got most of ours from the Salvation Army or an older cousin.

Maybe there should be a suit, blazer rental place for teens. It’s a waste to spend all that money for something they would only wear once or twice. Oh, wait, don’t we have the same problem with our girl’s prom dresses. Maybe we should have a prom rental place too.

Try the Land’s End clearance area.

Ebay has a bunch of boy’s blazers listed for less than $20.

5-4 and 100# sounds like size 14 or 16

My 14 year old S is almost identical in size. 16’s are too small for him. It’s nearly impossible to find clothes that fit in length but, are for a thin young man.

I feel for you biohelp.

Success at Macy’s! With the newspaper coupon, it was only $57. Size 16. I think they have to wear it twice a week. We had a neighbor on standby to lend one if necessary. I was really shocked as I also bought him shoes and found out that he went from size 5 1/2 to size 8 in shoes over the summer. He has been wearing flip flops so I didn’t notice.

Rrah- yeah, he does kind of look like he’s drowning in it. But the sleeves were too short on the size 14. It is an awkward age, but somehow they all get through it I guess.

Glad you got the jacket!

I remember those years. Painful to buy suits, etc. that they would grow out of in mere days (it seemed). FUnny about the shoe size. My son’s feet were growing a size almost every 2 months in 10th grade. I didn’t believe him for a while (though he just wanted new, cool shoes) until he showed me how cramped his feet were. Major guilt!!

Bio…start looking now for the next size larger…at those second hand stores. Talk to friends with older sons (we got lots of hand me downs this way). If you start soon, you’ll have an inexpensive replacement by the time your son outgrows the one you bought today:)

Glad you found one. For future reference, I was going to mention uniform stores, as some schools have uniform blazers.
