Cheap coffee maker

I remembered this morning that friends we visited recently had something like this - you could brew a K cup (or single serving) or a 12 cup pot. It was Hamilton Beach and maybe not this model but similar. Theirs is a few years old and going strong. Of course, if you like the 2 way option:

I have the Cuisinart machine from Costco. I’ve never had a problem with fire. I like it because I can program it and wake up to coffee. I also have a french press and a pour over and a Nespresso machine. I use the French press when I’m camping. The pour over when the electricity is out. The Nespresso when I want an afternoon cup. I also have a percolator that I used to use for camping before I switched to the French press.
My D uses a Mr Coffee. Her first one lasted for years, her latest died after 15 months.i think she paid $20 at Costco. I don’t know what she replaced the latest Mr Coffee with.

Costco has Mr Coffee in coupon for $29.99.

Just got our issue of Consumer Reports. They recommend the Hamilton Beach 12 cup programmable pot (49465R) - $25.

I am very cheap, very low tech. I boil water in a sauce pan, put a half piece of Bounty paper towel in a strainer, place that in a Chinese restaurant soup container, put my Dunkin’ Donut French vanilla coffee into the paper towel and pour the boiled water over it. Voila, coffee. Then I add ice cubes from my fridge dispenser and I have iced coffee.

We’ve had Keurig, Mr. Coffee and Krup. This method works best for us, especially since I can boil water for H’s tea at the same time.

At target this week, I decided to buy a cheap 5 cup coffee maker $19.99. It was called a 4 in 1 coffee maker. Make a pot, make a cup, make a travel cup, pour over. It’s actually kinda silly as you put less water in and less grounds, voila! A cup of coffee lol!

Today I made a cup in a travel mug. The coffee was your normal Mr. Coffee type, the travel mug kept it warm and it’s fine.

I also bought a carafe, when I have company I can make a couple of pots and keep it warm. And then my mom can make her decaf.

I swear I have the pickiest relatives. My mom will only drink decaf, my Il’s (and me) caffeinated. My sister drinks only tea, my H drinks Diet Coke. You get the idea. Now I have a cheap pot and won’t go broke with my nespresso!

@deb922 - if you bought the Black&Decker, its on sale today for $16.99 (15% off). You can get the difference credited to your cr. card if you want.

Thanks @jym626. If I happen to be near Target, I’ll do that!

100% agree with @Massmomm - I have 2 Braun 6-cup drip coffee makers (cone style) - one is black (for regular coffee) the other white (for decaf) - dependable, and I’ve had both for about 15 years now, and each were under $25 on Amazon. I also think the cone style makes a better cup of coffee.

I have the Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14-cup Programmable Coffee Maker from Costco and it’s wonderful. HOT coffee, bold option and it makes a lot. It comes with a reuseable coffee basket so no filters needed. Very well rated in Consumer reports. Price right now is $60 but I got in on sale for (I think) $40.
