“How do you get newly minted adults hooked on your service for life? If you’re Amazon, the secret is to provide them with everything that they need at a discount, and deliver it as quickly as possible. The combination of discounted Prime service and easy on-campus pickup is meant to hook college students on Prime during their formative years, and it’s turning out to be very effective.” …
Worked for AAPL (discounted hardware), worked for MSFT (discounted software), why not for AMZN?
Wait… there are college kids not hooked on Amazon?
It seems like many colleges host Bed, Bath, and Beyond pop-up stores on campus. That’s a pretty captive audience.
Marketing to college students is nothing new and seems like smart targeting to me.
Amazon can be a godsend to students in more remote, rural locations where shopping options are extremely limited. I just hope campuses make it easy to recycle those cardboard boxes.
This has happened at UW-Madison, although I think there’s talk of moving the Amazon pick-up point from the location initially announced, the Red Gym, an iconic and very centrally located campus building.
