-excellent teacher recs
-average to bad guidance councilors rec (my school has like 4 councilors. my councilor absolutely hates me for no apparent reason. she even removed me as VP from the student council, unbelievable. Should i just ask another councilor who hasn’t even heard of me for rec? there’s no way i ma waver my right to see the rec from my counselor. Is there anyway i can “sweet talk” a new councilor?)

Any thoughts?

p.s. every club and team (about 150$ with all the uniforms and stuff) costs so much money at my school so i had to skip a lot. I was going to play for varsity volleyball and cross-country but they costed too much.

you don’t have any stats for us to consider?

your ECs are fine. nothing that stands out too much, but some focus and some diversity, as well as some leadership.

bad counselor would be bad. you’re a rising senior right? there’s not much you can do, since 3-4 months isn’t enough to get to know another one. of course, if you can talk to your administration and get you a new counselor, it would be better than one that outright dislikes you.

every club and team costs money, and you couldn’t get waivers/financial aid? hard to believe. elaborate.

Yeah sure. Like we believe that. (there must be something about you)

fyi, its a Canadian HS so we never heard of waivers and financial aid for HS. The active-EC culture doesn’t really exist so the school doesn’t have a lot of funding for sports and stuff. For example, this year, we have to pay for the new jerseys even though the school kept them, i mean ***. In my sophmore year, a indoor basket was broken for the whole year so we have to play our home games at other schools. For my robotics club, we have to pay and fundraise for aluminum parts (which is unbelievable expensive) that our robot need even though the school kept the parts for next year as well.
As for my councilor, the trouble started during election in my sophmore year. When i finish my speech, i got a standing ovation from the whole crowd while other candidates got silence lol. But she felt like i was taking the election as a joke so she removed me as VP. Then, there was a huge movement, which i didn’t plan and even tried to stop it, that called the election rigged and people made mean comments about the new VP on facebook. People were constantly chanting “(my name) or die”. I tried so hard to get people stop saying that as the phrase became like a new catch phrase. Ever since that incident, she disliked me.

oops, i spelled counselor wrong. When i say councilor, i mean counselor hehe

is a counselor’s main job to talk about how rigourous your courseload is and how your academic achievement is compared to the rest of the school’s? Can i maybe get my counselor to base her recommendation on my teachers’ recommendation? my school’s counselors only see students to change courses so they don’t really “know” anyone.
