Checking ED notifications and going to school the next day

first of all i just have to say that it really annoys me when people try to hide what schools they are applying to, i only have 133 girls in my class so we pretty much know where everyone else is applying (mostly UMD), but there are a few who just won’t say, i think its ok to not talk about it a lot like everyone else but it just *es me off when u ask them to their face and they act like they are still unsure of their plans at this point…anyways i’m dreading going to school on the 15th, i have to go b/c its my last day before break so if i don’t get in i need to have my guidance couselor send transcripts to other school…a bunch of my friends applied EA/ED to other schools and they will find out that day too so if i get in and any of them don’t i will fell *ty talking about it and if i don’t get in then i def don’t want to hear them talking about how they did…ahh its a lose lose situation either way unless by some miracle we all get in

wowwwww… are you guys all serious?

please tell me your kidding… whats with people being all stirred up over nothing… who cares if you get in and other people don’t? They’ll get in somewhere else RD… stop worrying about everyone else so much… and who cares if you don’t get in, but other people do… good for them, now work hard on your RD apps

seriously, ya’ll needa chilllllllllllll out and stop worrying so much.

As to the Original Post, I plan on going to school the next day and telling anyone who asks me about my results what happened. I’ll also be sure to hear where other people got in and congradulate them

Pretentiousness runs wild here at CC… I can feel it in the air

CMH, i cant stand it when people ask me where i’m applying sometimes

i mean why are you so nosy about other people’s affairs?

sometimes people dont want to say where they applied to just because theyre afraid they wont get in, and would b made fun at

just know where you’re applying to, that should be good enough

I understand both positions. I see why people would want to keep where they’re applying a secret because they don’t want to feel as bad when they’re rejected, and applying to college is a personal issue. on the other hand, i see why people would want to know where others are applying because they want to know who their competition is. I guess people shouldn’t apply to certain schools solely based on their competition, but it’s sort of human nature to be curious about something that could be life-altering as applying to the right college.

I like to know where other people are applying just because it a) makes good conversation and b) it’s interesting to see where different people apply to and c) I want to know who I’m up against, I’m applying regardless but this way I can sit and hope with my friends who are also applying

I don’t see college as a personal decision, I see it as a community thing… we all go to school together and been through a lot of stuff together so we should share the ups/downs

also, people got self-esteem issues if the get sad by gettin rejected and having people know

I kept my schools a secret until about 2 weeks ago and now I think everyone knows. I’m the only one applying to Penn ED. One other person did ED Columbia and there’s an EA MIT, too. Other than that I don’t think anyone’s applying early to any top schools (though there are one or two people who are really, really secretive so they might be). Some people think I find out on the 14th and others think it’s the 15th. I know everyone’s going to ask me on Thursday but I’m just going to tell them I never checked and that I’m waiting for the letter in the mail…

skier, I like to know where other people are applying too.

But some people just don’t want to say where they’re applying.
And the people that CONSTANTLY pester them to spill where they’re applying are those that irk the hell out of me.

I mean, sure, ask once. But take the freakin’ hint if they don’t tell you that first time.

kliuless, some people don’t take no for an answer…

skierdude1000: amen, I wish I never told anyone where I was applying…I think its the worst thing you could do, because know we are all in this awkward situation. It’s bad enough with family, let alone with classmates. I think where you apply is very personal and people getting ****ed off that you don’t reveal personal information are immature competitive overachievers who want to put others done

If I get in, I am going to dress up as a Quaker and carry a briefcase around school (instead of my backpack).

Practically everyone in my class is going to Seventh-Day Adventist, which is my school’s affliation, schools except for me. I’m the loner and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Everyone thinks I’m smart and everything, and they think I’m going to get in, but they don’t know how hard it is. I don’t know what I would do after I learn my fate. I’ll be too ecstatic to concentrate on my finals if I get in, and I’ll be too dejected to concentrate on them if I don’t get in. Either way, I’m not gonna be able to concentrate on my finals.

Do you think it’s annoying when people ask you what your SAT scores are? There are some people who ask and I tell them “yeah, I passed!” joking, and sometimes they just don’t get the hint that I don’t want to tell them.

i have graduated too… like GoCollege… so, i’d be facing my colleagues the nxt day, who haf no idea wch schools i applied for, nor even, what’s ED!?

im not going to school the next day if i get deferred/rejected. its my own reward for not getting in to make me feel better, this way i wont have to suffer through that day of school. ive already told people in my classes that if im not in school the 15th then im not in, so hopefully people wont ask me if im in or not.

i cant wait to miss school! lollll

There must be a reason why online decisions don’t come out on Friday. You’d think that would be the compassionate day to release them. I bet they do it in case there are any major screw ups or mistakes(like mixing up two students from the same school) !!
