I called financial aid at Yale, and they wouldn’t tell me if my noncustodial waiver had been accepted or not. They said I’d have to wait for admission decisions to come out. If I was accepted, then any required documents, or a financial aid offer, will be readily accessible. Has anyone else had Yale tell them something similar? I thought that admissions and financial aid were separate; why can they not tell me if my waiver was or wasn’t accepted?

It’s possible that they only do financial aid packages for students who are accepted (it would seem like a “waste” of resources to figure out packages for students who aren’t going to be accepted). If they tell you whether or not the waiver was accepted, then it might give you a hint as to what your admissions decision is. Don’t worry about it, though. You’ll have plenty of time to deal with this later, if you’re accepted.

That’s what I though, but I thought that Yale kept admissions and financial aid separate. Brown University plainly acknowledged that my waiver was accepted, it’s even on my financial aid received documents page, so I figured Yale would do the same. I presumed neither would be indicative of an admissions decision. Odd, to say the least.
