Chelsea Clinton's Wedding

Oh, missy. The places I could go with that last sentence! ;)

^^Except the groom, right, missypie?

You know, I have no idea what our cake looked like. I just remember that at the tasting it was fabulous, but I never got any - they cleared my plate while I was dancing!!

It’s probably terrible, but honestly, if I try and remember details from my wedding, I can come up with some, but I have to say they are nothing earth shattering and overly memorable! The cake…I don’t remember much - white frosted, probably flowers - know I always hated the people on top thing so don’t thing I had that - will have to go look up some pics to find out!!!

My FIL is notoriously late. My wedding was called for 6 pm. We told him it was 5 pm. He still barely made it on time. Oh – and it was held in a hotel, so “making it” meant going from his hotel room to the ground floor.

We actually left for our honeymoon thinking everything had gone more or less okay…but the video and photographs don’t lie!

We had an outdoor reception with a fajita buffet. The caterer was supposed to cook the meat right there, but their grill ran out of propane, so they had to go somewhere to get another tank, and then they couldn’t get that to work, so everyone had to wait quite a while for food. Anyway, the disaster of that particular incident had faded in my mind over time. This summer we saw someone we hadn’t seen since the wedding 21 years ago. She brought up the whole grill story! YIKES! My wedding was such a disaster that folks still remember 21 years later!

My wedding cake was heart-shaped and had real pink flowers on it. We had raspberry punch and as a surprise, the caterer put raspberries all around the bottom edge of the cake. The other surprise was that it was so hot that day that the cake icing came out a pale yellow instead of ivory. Pretty, but not what I was expecting.

LOL! Thank goodness the party was way back when it was okay to spend money.

I’m resurrecting this thread because a friend just forwarded me an e-mail with an account of the wedding, the reception and the next day’s brunch, written by one of the guests. My friend received it from a friend of a friend of a friend, etc., but it’s genuine. It’s very interesting, with details of the bridesmaid dresses, the toasts, the guests, the ceremony, the flowers, the band. the food, etc. I won’t post it here because this is a public forum, but if anyone’s interested, PM me and I’ll send it to you.

jyber, your PM box is full…clear some space and I’ll send part 2.
