Chem 1A hw

Does 1 point for the OWL stuff really matter in the class? I haven’t been doing the OWL checks…

hmm. i dunno .

The course description lists OWL homework as constituting 98 of the possible 1000 points for the course. Since the class is not curved, but absolute, this makes the OWL worth almost 10% of the final grade.

The current cutoff for an A is 880 points, but with no OWL credits, one is already down to 902 points even if every other test and requirement garners a perfect score.

Slip just another 22 points out of 902 in total across three more MTs, a final, all the labs and all the clicker quizes, and an A becomes impossible. You need a running 98% rate on everything else in the class to keep an A if you don’t do the OWL assignments.

But the thing is, the OP isn’t talking about not doing the OWL homework as a whole but only the OWL Chem Checks which are worth 1 pt each.

I would say that it would matter just because you never know when one point would be useful. Also, it is helpful (at least to me anyways) if you want to learn. So I say just do it. It doesn’t even take that long.

It’s one point. Out of…1000? So 0.1% of your final grade.
