Chem questions

What is a water trough used for in chemistry? Just curious.

labs - it’s for ice baths/hot water baths…or that’s all we’ve used it for.

can someone explain why products have stronger bonds than reactants in an exothermic reaction?

When things come together to form a more stable product, heat is released. The heat released in an exothermic reaction idicates the creation of a more stable product, thus it’ll be more idfficult to break (stronger bonds). Also, if you look at a reaction curve of an exdothermic process, you’ll see that the activation of the reverse reaction is much larger than that of the foward.

^^ what he said.
another example is when an electron goes to a lower energy level. it becomes more stable and releases energy.
