I’m currently enrolled in CHEM135 with Vedernikov, but want to switch to one of the Dixon sections since I’ve heard Dixon is a much better professor. I’m number one on the waitlist for the Dixon section, but according to the UMD website:

“To be eligible for the waitlist/hold file you cannot be registered for any other section of the desired course. If you are currently registered for any other section of the course, you must drop that section before you can be placed on the waitlist. If you remain registered for another section of the same course at the time you waitlist, you will be removed from the waitlists.”

Should I drop the Vedernikov section in anticipation of getting the Dixon section? If I keep the Vedernikov section on Testudo, will they not give me the Dixon section even if I get off the waitlist for it?

I am in the same situation. I was told you cant be enrolled in two sections of the same class. If you dont drop Vedernikov you wont be placed in Dixon’s class off the wait list. They

I got the class! Thanks 33dmjjm.

Did you have to drop Vedernikov and then add Dixon or did you get pulled from the wait?list

I did drop Vedernikov, so I’m not sure if I needed to or not. When I signed in and went to classes, it said “Confirm” where it usually says “Drop” next to the class name. I was first on the waitlist, so I was pretty sure someone would drop out at sometime though.

Doctorate: I have Ruett-Robey for Chem 135. What have you heard about her? thanks

Dixon is supposed to be really good, I would try to get on a waitlist for her if possible.
