Chemical Engineering Admissions questions

Hello, I plan on applying to UIUC this fall for Chemical Engineering. I have a few questions

Does UIUC look at the writing section on the SAT’s? Because in the admitted profile, I only see the CR+M score which is out of 1600.

My school is very small, and hence doesn’t rank us or send date relating to how we compare to other students. In such a case, what should be a GPA that is in the competitive range? (I am currently doing the IB Programme, if that helps)

How competitive is Chemical Engineering for International Students as apposed to other engineering major at UIUC, and in general?

Thank You.

The writing section is not used at this time.

Since grades and grading systems vary, one cannot specify any one particular GPA that would be competitive. Obviously the higher the better and upper 3’s in a 4.0 unweighted system would be good and high IB grades would be considered favorably.

In line with the engineering college in general and middle 50% ranges you see published for engineering in general are a reliable guide. Out-of-state and international students are admitted at about the same rate as in-state students.

Thank you very much! :)
