I like both fields and have a bachelor of science in chemistry. I have been accepted to a veterinary school abroad which is accredited and quite reputable (top 10 in the world) and offers doctor of veterinary medicine. I also can go back to school and get a second bachelor degree in chemical engineering which will take 4 years and will cost 40k as opposed to going for veterinary degree which will cost 200k (I can pay out of my own pocket and have no debt). what would you do? thanks
Those two fields are so different! I think you should follow your passion. Which one do you want to do the most?
honestly I like veterinary medicine more, but I am scared of the price tag. I have tried to get in state school, but was unsuccessful.
I don’t understand. You HAVE the $200K. What scares you. According to the occupational handbook, the median salary for vets is $87K, with faster than average growth. Not so bad.
Chemical engineers, the median salary is $96K with slow growth. You may spend the 40K and still not find work. The ChemE job market is weakening with low oil prices. The Dow/Dupont merger isn’t going to help either. In 4 years who knows?
I think you should do what you like more.
