Anyone doing a Chemistry/Chemical Biology major? Supposedly this major focuses on the pharmaceutical field. From some of the things I’ve heard/read so far, Carnegie doesn’t really have a great expertise in that. Is this true? Should I change majors then? I do have an interest in business as well. So maybe Tepper? Thanks!

Don’t pay attention to ChoreBoy’s thread. CMU’s Chemistry/Chemical Biology major does not focus on pharmaceutical field. No major at CMU focuses on the pharmaceutical field. CMU’s great for Chemistry/Biology majors but its just not great for people who major in Chemistry/Biology to become pharmacist. And that’s only because Carnegie Mellon does not have a pharmacy school.

So what do people usually do with this major? Is it mostly to become researchers or go into the medical field?

According to the placement survey the majority of students do research after college.

It’s also becoming more popular as a pre-med prep.
