At this moment, I am majoring in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry. By concentrating in Biochemistry, I am required to take two semesters of Introduction into Biology, Genetics, and Cell & Molecular Biology. At my school, the first semester sequence of Introduction into Biology is a weed-out class. The average for the first two exams was a 55% and 57%, and the averge for the third was a 65%. Absolutely no curve. A large proportion of the class has withdrawn already. Currently, I have a C.
I am considering switching my concentration to Chemistry for my GPA’s sake. Should I just tough it out next semester in the second semester sequence of Intro into BIO? I’ve heard Chemistry majors should have a Biology background to increase their job prospects. I’ve already scheduled an appointment to talk to my advisor, but I wanted to hear some of your opinions. Thank you.
