<p>How hard is it to get into chemistry research at Brown? Is it possible to get into a lab first year, or do most students wait until second year? Any information would be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>It’s fairly easy to get into a chem lab in your first year, though my personal recommendation is to wait until your second year.</p>
<p>I had a significant amount of research experiencing going into Brown and decided to wait a full year and a half before doing research and it was a great decision. Not only do classes serve to inform you in the lab but it’s important to spend time exploring other activities and interests since science has a way of eating up one’s time if you truly engage in what you’re doing.</p>
