I think interesteddad has it. They were monitoring the situation and when they realized the victim would live, had the landowner’s daughter call the local media as a cover for why the press corps was not notified right away. They expect us to believe that the daughter took it upon herself to inform her local paper. Why would she do that?

What would they have done/said if the victim died? “Fast Acting VP Thwarts Assassination Attempt?”

From interesteddad: “Reading between lines, the old geezer that the Veep shot was probably injured rather severely. Severely enough that he was helicoptered from the local hospital to a larger facility in Corpus Christi, where he is still hospitalized.”

1) Millionaires get to ride to the hospital in helicopters.
2) Friends of the Vice Pres get to ride in helicopters too.
3) He (unlike most Americans) probably has good health insurance.

Rorosen,
watch Cheney’s snarling when he HAD to visit the Katrina area and you will get a sense of why there might be a touch of meanness in these posts… we reap what we sow…no??

yes,an expression brimming with joyous anticipation of the devastated landscape visit would have presented so much more an appropriate face,…and would likely have engendered a "look how that ■■■■■■■ was smirking at their misfortune’ condemnation,…

The NRA hunting rules say you always point the muzzle in a safe direction, be sure of your target and what’s beyond and to not mix alcohol or drugs with shooting. Don’t most people think that Ted Kennedy waited to report his tragic traffic accident because it takes about 12 hours to clear alcohol out of your system. Could that have caused a delay here?

“Reading between lines, the old geezer that the Veep shot was probably injured rather severely.”

Three days in intensive care? For my health insurance company, that’s like saying “almost dead”. I’d want to interview the perp. immediately to know how much he’d been drinking. Armstrong probably called the press when she figured out she could be held legally liable as well.

Wish he’d stayed in the VP’s mansion and found an intern with a blue dress. ;)

Has he been in intensive care all this time? From the statements of Ms. Armstrong, the injuries were minor. Her description was “peppered pretty good”, and she went on to say that this had happened to her several times. Of course, she could have been spinning the story under orders from the White House - the NY Times article this morning revealed that she spoke by telephone to Karl Rove within 90 minutes of the shooting - but how powerful could projectiles meant to bring down birds the size of your fist be? Don’t they use “birdshot”?

This may be a less amusing story very soon. Reports are that the victim has suffered a ‘minor heart attack’ as a result of the pellets lodging near his heart.

How awful! Would the pellets really penetrate that deeply? I was under the impression that they barely broke the skin. Maybe he suffered a heart attack just from the shock?

Apparently a pellet migrated to his heart and lodged there. I feel badly for the man and hope that he will be okay. What a horrible thing for him and his family.

Got a great laugh last night. Unfortunately now it ain’t all so funny as the victim has apparently had a heart attack due to pellets lodged near his heart.

Cowboy Dick has now also been cited for not having a proper hunting license and refused to speak to local authorities, whatsoever, before leaving the “jurisdiction” (he is still a citizen subject to and not above the law is he not).

As far as this being hunting, it is shooting fish in a barrel (farm raised, almost flightless birds-he might as well been fishing in a koi pond)-

Bottomline of all this hub bub, even in an incident as relatively minor as this, this administration cannot properly, honestly or efficiently disseminate information. They didn’t communicate with each other in this instance, not unlike Katrina; they can’t tell the truth or must “sit” on information until the spin has been completed, not unlike WMD and Iraq in general; and, their general viewpoint is that they need not be forthcoming with the American public, ever, at any time.

So medically speaking the physicians did not anticipate migration? Did not map the locations of pellets dwelling in the flesh? It seems a curiosity.
