I put them in smoothies, and I like the smoothies better with than without them. They’re like softer poppy seeds, quite pleasant to eat.

So, I bought some Chia seeds yesterday. Actually, I bought two packets. First one at Whole Foods because I was there and saw them and had no idea of what was a good price so paid $8.49. Ten minutes later I walked into Trader Joe’s and they were $4.99! Same exact size and color, just different packaging. I didn’t realize the price difference until I compared receipts later, but guess which one is going back?!

I got home and looked on-line for recipes and realized that an easy one to try them out would be sort of a peach pudding since I had some freshly sliced peaches that I had put in the frig earlier with some sugar. I put about half of a cup of the peaches, milk to cover and a couple of Tablespoons of the chia seeds in a large custard bowl. I realized belatedly that it takes a few hours for them to really swell up so I covered the bowl and left in in the frig overnight. This morning I ate it. Tasted pretty good, sort of like peach flavored tapioca pudding. The only negative is that the seeds are black and that’s a little icky looking for pudding. A worker at Whole Foods noted that they usually have white seeds but were out of stock.
