Chicago EA People

Option 5 FTW!

Washington in the Great Pacific Northwest, I just sent in my U of Chicago EA application couple days ago, and i picked the “how i got caught” essay but i think my SAT is too low :frowning:
i have a 2070 with a 680 grammar 680 CR and 710 math, is that too low? and i think my EC’s are strong

Well, 18% of last year’s admitted students had an SAT score in the range of 1300 - 1390. Lest you think 18% is low, 21% had lower scores. Looks like they must be looking at things other than test scores. (They ignore the writing section.)

Here is the complete breakdown:

1500-1600 37%
1400-1490 24%
1300-1390 18%
1200-1290 10%
1100-1190 10%
1000-1090 1%

(They ignore the writing section.)
@idad,that’s what makes me hate myself…jkjk…that’s wut makes me have to retake- -

@Tallone13 Yeah, they should be looking at other stuff as well.If the essay is good and EC is strong…you need to worry a little less.Anyway,it’s in God’s hand now>.<Lets’ just cheer up and study…omg

Let me ask all who applied EA. Did you have Collegeboard send official AP score to UC?

m0baik01 no I did not. I just put the scores on my common app. err was I supposed to get score reports—I’m not really sure?

ya you were supposed to get them sent from collegeboard…

GAH! I’m so nervous for the SATs on Saturday :(.

motion12345 thanks for letting us know! best of luck of saturday:) I’m sure you don’t need it!!

motion12345 maybe you thought I was talking about the SAT scores? that would make sense. yeah so I think that we can just self report AP scores cause if you do get accepted then you will have to get official AP scores to get credits and such.

The Got Caught essay I thought was pretty easy, I applied EA. I took the essay a way I don’t think most people will. So I’m not gonna tell you. :stuck_out_tongue: No offense.

-Dan, PA

AP Scores - self-report.

Thank you mathmom that was very clear  self report it is!

We did not send ours either but the reason I ask is that when we were in the info session, I specifically asked if they needed an official AP score and she said that they do want it sent by collegeboard.

^Are you sure they understood the question? Once you are accepted you need to send in an official report, but it would be very unusual for a college to require it beforehand. I know of no other school that requires official scores. Normally one self-reports and if for any reason they don’t believe you they can always check with your guidance counselor for verification.

That is what I think and that’s why we did not send ours. But she did say that for sure. She might have thought SAT score or she might have meant after admissions… anyway…

me another EA applicant, I am from Singapore! already submitted all materials. now i am waiting for results. i must say that this kind of waiting is killing. I want to study physics, theoretical particle physics in particular. i am really into U of C.a big geek of science and hardly have social life, that’s me…

hi everyone! i just discovered this thread :). i’m so nervous for our decisions! we find out by mail only, right? not online?

not online?!..Then it’ll take a while to reach me…I thought it’d be online as well…

I think decisions are posted online through each person’s University of Chicago account

^Yes, this is correct
