Chicago EA People

if my fee waiver is postmarked Nov 3 does that automatically send my app to the regular decision pile?

I am going to have a heart attack before mid december I dont think i can take the waiting!

Does being from Massachusetts help admissions chances?
There is only a 6% New England Population in class of 2013.

Just wondering.

IM SO EXCITED btw FOR UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO!!! as is everyone else.

AAIIIEEEEEEEEEE GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Hey everyone,

I guess I’m new to our 2014 pool. Go us! I wanna tell you all about my essays, well, actually, I’m starting to feel dread about my essays and I seek reassurance that they are as creative and wonderful as when I first conceived them.

I have kind of a neat story and I used that in my Why Chicago essay. I talked about how I really wanted a good education, and I really wanted to take the core curriculum and do service learning.

Then for my main essay, I talked about how I had an idea of perfection. Then, I realized that my idea of person was imperfect, so I tried to get a new one. It was meh, but I don’t think anybody will use the same examples as me (Lexus cars and mopeds, hehe).

For my favorite work of art essay, I talked about how I loved a rap song for inspiring the character OG Newton. You know, Original Gangster Newton. Newton’s a thug, you know.

Well, how about all you guize?

which supplement essay did everybody choose? I chose #2 - something you have outgrown

ahahhaha no way my main essay talked about my perfectionist tendencies. my optional revolved around andrew bird, amelie, and cupcakes. airchompers I feel the dread too. I just want to hibernate until december 15.

I wrote my optional essay on the book the selfish gene by richard dawkins, the italian film La Vita E bella and the tv show house md

I chose option 4… about the games? Hopefully it turned out well. I guess only time will tell, right?

I chose Option 4 too.

My main essay was an abstract and stylistic essay about a fictional char (engl teacher said it was the most original she’d ever seen hehe). My optional was about my favorite music and books. My supplement was the game one. I must admit, I actually liked writing these :)

My optional essay is about squirrels, glitter nail polish, mermaids and bathroom tiles. :)

Still working on the supplement. Will be working on the supplement till December 31st, I suppose. :(

I choose Option 5 but now that I look back I come off as an incredibly pessimistic guy in my application :(

Oh and I requested an Alumni Interview last night :)

I did option 5 as well. Hm, for my optional one, I just talked about one thing… hopefully that doesn’t matter too much - I don’t know how picky they’ll be about the “few” (any thoughts?). I got an e-mail from my interviewer today! She says they need to get their stuff in by 11/20, so don’t worry if you’re just requesting yours!

I got a confirmation that I requested an alumni interview (I did so yesterday) but haven’t gotten an email from anyone yet though.

I did option 1 - anyone else choose to get caught? :P

yes i did option 1:)

I requested my interview last Tuesday, and I got an e-mail from the interviewer today, so it takes about a week. Hope this helps. :)

Belatedly joining in, son applied EA. He chose to get caught. The essay was pretty strange, if the readers get it they will either love it or hate it, if they don’t get it they’ll be totally baffled. For the optional essay he wrote about The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and David Weber and his love of Tchaikovsky, Kenny Rogers and Finnish metal music.

S2 was caught for his main Chicago and #2 (change in political philosophy) for his CA main. Optional was mainly about POETRY (!!!) and how a few specific pieces speak to him. Never would have imagined it.

Many David Weber fans in our house, mathmom! S1’s best bud got S1 and DH totally hooked.

I read all of David Weber’s Honorverse books up till the last couple - I got tired of so much politics and military hardware! Too much detail!
