Ouch, that really sucks. big hug

Awww…I’m sorry!Man,life is still long enough~Good luck! Hug

That’s awful, Terp. But look at it in a law-of-balances way - something bad leads to something good, so maybe that’s good for Chicago. (Still awful though. I’m sorry.)

Quasi, thats the best thing I’ve heard this year. I hope I get a big, fat envelope from Chichago because this month has been so suckish so far.

I am well overdue for some success ;(.

@alfassa

be careful with that mentality. that kind of “i deserve it” attitude brings bad karma. I was there for a while, and things didn’t work out so well. Try- “I’ve worked very hard, and this hard work has instilled hope within me.” The universe doesn’t like demands.

Yes, I’m a bit of a hippie.

Darn…just got my SAT scores back. Where the heck did this harsh math curve come from lol. I got one wrong on math and got a 760. Missed one on writing with a 10 essay…770 >_>.

Still damn good scores - good job.

@Motion

Please dont tell me you’re tlaking about Nov.7 SAT. I still didn’t find out my scores =[ That is a ugly curve if you only got one wrong.

Yup I am. Sorry to disappoint =/. If it makes you feel better, I don’t think that the reading curve was as harsh as the math/writing one. I missed 7 and still got a 690.

Gosh, motion, what an awful curve. I think I did the selfsame on Writing in May, and they gave me a higher score. Oh, College Board, how I loath thee. Those scores are still really good though (what wouldn’t I do for a 760 in math!), and Chicago doesn’t care about writing!

CollegeBoard psychos on the curve a lot… Haha that was like on the PSAT, I got one wrong in Math and it was a 75… But honestly, a 760 is an amazing score!

Yay for the ACT.

PS Just upgraded from Junior Member –> Member
Wooohooooo

Good luck everyone!!
I really want to get in, but rejection looms…

God, I would KILL for a 760 Math. Sigh.

And I really don’t think alfassa’s attitude is “I deserve it” as much as “Will something good happen to me FOR ONCE, PLEASE!!!”

Not that I’m projecting or anything. :p

In any case, it’ll all be over in less than two weeks.

^ Ya…someone make a countdown thread or something :D

@beatfreaks: If your score got delayed, then unless you filled in your information incorrectly while taking the test, then your score might have gone up 500+ points :D. So, congrats man (hopefully).

Also, I’m still irked that UChicago doesn’t care about the writing section, but cares about the reading section. I should have 750+ in critical reading if the section actually tested reading comprehension. Unfortunately, though, it has to test vocabulary as well :(.

Well, I’m irked that there was a 32% increase from the number of EA applications in 2007 (there was a small dip in 2008). Which means, WE’RE ALL FREAKIN’ SCREWED. I wish I had worked harder Freshman year…

kitkatkatie: I agree with you completely.

Quasi: You’re right. I could use a little boost right now, but its cool. Fail/success cycles are normal for everyone right?

You guys, worst case scenario, some of us get rejected, mope for a day or two, go to some other less cool college and spend four years convincing ourselves it’s better than Chicago. Life…
