I just found out a few minutes ago I was accepted into my safety! This is exciting.

a friend of mine got into U Penn today! every other school is releasing results now…I don’t know what UChicago is doing
spectravoid how I envy you! I thought they won’t tell students beforehand but apparently they did. still, my warmest congratulations!

and the question, as many had asked before? WHEN WILL THE REST OF US KNOW?

@dawn a friend of mine got in, too. yay!

I’m hoping it’ll be Monday. If they have decisions done, then they should let us know soon. I’m hoping. I just don’t want to have this hanging over my head when I’ve got finals to worry about. And I want to have a good winter break (read as: not worry about sending supplemental materials).

I’m afraid we’re going to have a discussion circa 2013 boards where all the accepted people had super high test scores… and there were some accusations. Let’s not do that, guys!

CONGRATS!!!

I don’t think they will let us know as soon as decisions are made. perhaps I am a little prejudiced. But I think those AOs have made decision long ago and are just waiting for a most unexpected time to release results to surprise us.
I sincerely hope my guess is proved false.

I’m banking on Monday as well. Honestly, they can’t leave when decisions are posted - what if the computers fail epicly? I think that was motion’s logic.

I really don’t think they’d pick the decision release time based on when it would most surprise us.

I don’t want to have that idea either. but the conditions make me think so. cause most of top10 Universities have named the release time. yet UChicago has said nothing. and I cannot help gossiping about when the time will be.

COME ON CHICAGO!!! emory just released their decisions.

Good points. I think Tuesday is also a reasonable option, but I guess we’ll see what happens. I’m just occupying myself with playing the guitar, studying for some competition, playing some video games, and watching sports games/movies till they come out, so I’m actually not nervous whatsoever right now.

Given the recent UChicago movement (from what I can tell) toward a more conventional admissions process (more marketing, switch to the Common App) I’m kind of disappointed that this is the aspect that they preserved.

Any other Top 10 University with EA do this sort of thing? :(

^Northwestern ed does it! Waiting is a b****

Caltech and Georgetown both have EA and released today

MIT releases Dec 16

The Ivies with ED released them on the 10th or the 11th.

Except Brown, whose decisions go out on Monday.

Northwestern and UChicago…hmmmm…there must be something unusual happened in the admission offices.

Dawncoming (#586), I doubt very much that they admissions officers will choose a notification date based on when it might “surprise” applicants. Not only would it serve no meaningful purpose, but it would also be sadistic.

My guess is that there is a practical reason that has to do something with the logistics of stuffing the envelopes (both real and metaphorical) - e.g., making sure that the right notice will reach the right applicant, that technology will work properly, etc. Besides, if you really think that they’re holding their notifications only to “surprise” you or make you suffer, I imagine that you wouldn’t want to go there!

I wouldn’t want to go there? how could that be! UChicago is my first choice for higher education.

well, don’t you sense that, I was partly JOKING about the uncertainty of releasing time?

Yep. When you said “perhaps I am a little prejudiced” and “I sincerely hope my guess is proved false,” you gave me the impression that you were serious.

hahahaha~:) I like writing formally when I give opinions. somewhat strange, maybe?

we got it, dawn. some people are just a bit nervous about decisions and can’t sense a joke.

I think Monday would make sense, because then they’d have the whole week to get envelopes out. Do they send out the envelopes on the same day as decisions? In that case, Monday would be good- people across the country could get the mail within a couple days without waiting for slow weekend mail.

I’m sooooo excited! Today is awesome! I just finished my 2 huge finals and I think I did well… and I’m feeling pretty good about colleges today.

And netflix’s best of Will Ferrell (SNL) is pretty good, too. ;)
