Chicago EA People

I feel the EXACT same way. I know I would be happy at the other schools I’m applying to, but UChicago is definitely my number one. I guess I need a shirt too.

A-Punk, is your name a Vampire Weekend reference? If so, I approve.

Yes! I am happy that someone noticed the reference

You guys are flying to the university for an interview!?

What if we can’t afford to go to the university for an interview?

I live in Texas! : /

Esplin- You can schedule an interview with an alum if you don’t live near Chicago. This was on the website:

Alumni interviews
Students who do not live in the greater Chicago area and who are unable to visit campus may request an interview with an alumnus/a in their area. Alumni interviews can only be requested through our website and after beginning the application process.

After you submit your Common Application or Supplement, you will receive an email with instructions on how to create your Chicago account.
Log in and click “Request an alumni interview.” Both freshman and transfer applicants may request interviews.
Please be aware that we will be unable to accommodate all interview requests. As a reminder, interviews are not required and if you are unable to have one there will be no effect on your application.

Don’t worry Litlhurry! I too am trying to beat the figurative clock of doom (and I’m sure many others are too). Although I really enjoy writing, Chicago’s essays are quite daunting given the high expectations.

I fear that I took the easy route out…I spent a ton of time working on my common app essay, so I ended up using that for Chicago and just writing another common app essay that was eh decent.

I can’t believe my application is over…It’s been 10 weeks in the making…and now I’m all empty inside D:

Wanna read my essay?

Sure I’ll read it! PM it to me. I actually did the same thing (used really good/creative common app essay for Chicago and created an entirely new common app essay). Have you actually submitted your application yet?

Not submitted, but everything is uploaded. Just waiting on my lazy English teacher to finish my rec letter xD

I’ll send it over sometime soon :D

I’m considering applying to U of Chicago, but i’m not sure if it’s the right school for me. I want to major in anthropology and minor in political science. What makes some of your guys love U of Chicago so much? Is U of Chicago really rigorous or do people have fun? Tell me your thoughts about why U of Chicago is a top choice?

It is a lot of work…BUT, the students there are quirky and passionate. I personally love the polar bear club and the Scav Hunt, the little asian restaurant across campus, and the fact that they enjoy playing Scrabble. I like little things like that.

Also the Core is perfect for my learning style. But that’s just me…could be different for you.

Basically…be intelligent, be inquisitive and be passionate.

Haha, all my stuff is uploaded too, but I am nervous about actually submitting it. I keep wanting to revise my essays more!

Yes! I hear you haha. It’s very tempting…but knowing me, I’d get frustrated and end up deleting my essay and want to start from scratch :stuck_out_tongue: It’s a vicious habit of mine, really, and it’s what my common app essay is about lol.

Hey, if you want, friend me on facebook :D

Hey guys, I’m late in joining the party, but I will be among the EA applicants this year. I finished my essays a couple weeks back, but I’ve contemplating when I want to hit the actual submit button. If you want to know about me, I like to eat spicy food, write about stuff, dream about college, and talk about pokemon. It’s an absolute pleasure to meet you all.

wait once you submit…how long is it before they send you a link to open an account? also, I already have an account from visiting there…so how does that work?

^Same question here. Submitted, and I am really excited for the interview!

And to Litlhurry, do UChicago students really enjoy playing Scrabble, like a lot?! Because that would make me so happy, because I wrote my essay on it. I always loved Chicago, and it’s the little things like this I find out thay make me love it more.

Hey guys. I’m an EA applicant too. God…I’m nervous.

I am as well…Just kinda on the extreme slow side…Still have essays to write>.<I am nervous.

The people that I met all liked Scrabble :stuck_out_tongue:

If we both get in, we should have a scrabble tourney sometime! :D

My tummy is doing weird things. Nervousness, and I’m only RD!

PreLives, I know what you mean…the little things make me even more excited. I’m not really experiencing that with most of my other schools.

And count me in for the Scrabble tournament! I love anything to do with words, so Scrabble is definitely cool. :)
