How much does going to UC’s summer program can help with admissions, if at all?

I don’t know about the UofC in particular, but I’d imagine it would have about the same effect as with other highly selective schools’ summer programs: negligible.

It’s certainly better than lounging around all summer, but I wouldn’t go if I had something else really interesting to do instead.

Honestly, it’s probably better to just stay home and get a job. A job certainly shows that you have skills, which helps your application. It also gets you money. And finally, when it comes time to look for jobs on campus, you’ll have some experience under your belt. Summer programs, while certainly respectable, kind of just make you look privileged.
