I think it’s safe to say that Cornell is known for their diversity. On the RD results thread, I’ve noticed a lot of people who seem under-qualified and state in the “Why do you think you were accepted?” section that being a URM significantly increased their chances.

I’m part Chickasaw Native American and trying to qualify for an Indian “Reservation Card,” which essentially certifies your degree of Indian blood. If I get certified, how much will this change my application? Would I simply check the “native american” box, or would I send in my certification? Say, for example, I made a 1320 SAT I, 31 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA, 6 AP courses, more-or-less impressive EC’s, and that URM hook. How would my chances look?

I’m interested either in ILR or the AEM program. If I get an internship at a mutual fund, a congressman’s office, and an energy company, all in one summer, how will this appear on my resume? Does splitting my time between three different jobs put me at a disadvantage? Where could I intern to show my interest for ILR? Does anyone know which ethnicities Cornell considers a hook, no hook, or an anti-hook, whether officially or unofficially?

Any light shed on this topic will be greatly appreciated.
