So this brings up a question: Who is everyone’s style muse? (if they have one)
Georgia O’keeffe
Calista Flockhart
Annie Hall
Audrey Hepburn. And also my sister.
Audrey Hepburn, maybe some aspects of Angelina Jolie, some aspects of Kate Moss, some aspects of Kate Middleton.
Fun question Pizzagirl. Amal Clooney…professional look, edgy look and red carpet look. She misses sometimes, but I love looking at her clothes.
I agree…animal prints in small doses, although I admit I have a straight animal print skirt. Wear it with black tights and high heeled black boots. I like animal print scarves and some jewelry. Come to think about it, I like it on everything except blouses, sweaters and jackets for some reason.
I’m wearing my shoes with skinny black or straight legged black jeans for now. I wouldn’t mind finding a pair of beige that matches that color with black on top.
I’m serious about my sister being a fashion muse. I frequently try on clothes thinking WWMW (what would sister’s name wear). When I was looking through some piles of old photos from the '80’s and '90’s last summer, she looked beautifully dressed in every picture. The rest of us looked like idiots.
You should have her go shopping with you!
Marilyn Monroe??? Because I am completely in love with this collection -LOL!!!

IMO, MaxMara was the only brand that did not botch the fall… And their pre-fall animal prints were amazing, too:
Amal Clooney is a great addition; hadn’t thought of her.

That’s funny - I think the same way! Somehow putting it on the top of the body makes it more “ugh, trying too hard” vs chic, and I don’t know why!
I like Ines de la Fressange, but her entire look is based on having no hips and I unfortunately have some, so I can’t really emulate her. But chic and classic and not overly “done” is the look I aspire to.
Blythe Danner
Oh, and another style icon – As is probably obvious by now (since I often post links to it all the time), I love the sensibility behind The Sartorialist blog, but my actual style of dressing is not anything like the truly original dressers he photographs. So, I guess they are fantasy icons.
This lady’s style is almost always a hit (with a few occasional misses):

But it looks like she might have to sport an orange outfit for a year or so…
I like Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific though I don’t dress like she does.
There’s also a blogger called Mai Tai who has a very classic, little-Hermes-scarf kind of look that I think looks nice for a 50 something woman.
From a pure style standpoint, I do like Gwyneth Paltrow’s aesthetic.
Ditto Ines de la Fressange and Mai Tai, and I also love Queen Letizia of Spain.
