I have heard from many websites that some schools give tuition breaks or in state tuition waivers to children of civil servants such as policemen, firefighters, and teachers. But im having trouble finding schools that do this, but all over the Internet there are websites that say they do. So if anyone knows about schools that do this, or have links to a list of schools who do this it would be much appreciated
There is a lot of misinformation on the internet. A few state schools may give tuition breaks to special groups but they are few and far between. They may also be competitive awards.
I have never seen tuition breaks for civil servants, but I have seen scholarships tied to those fields, individually (i.e. policemen’s descendants). It really depends on the college. You need to seek out those scholarships through your family member’s labor organization. Each of those unions tends to have the information for recipients.
There were many specialty scholarships posted on our high school’s webpage, listing scholarships. Many were for children of military, but others might have been for the children of firefighters or teachers. My friend’s daughter won a scholarship because her mother was a county employee and they had a drawing (truly random).
Ask your parents, or search the websites of their employers.
Teacher here. I’ve never heard of a price break for kids of teachers to attend college.
Government employees have more secure jobs snd pensions than workers in the private sector.
Please post links to three or four of these “many websites.”
Government workers in CT are getting laid off in droves. I’m sure this isn’t the only state in which this is happening.
