2 news stories today raise this issue.

In one a Somalian child was smuggled into the UK for the purpose of harvesting her organs. Apparently, the parents of children who can be saved by transplants are willing to buy the organs on the black market. So, it looks like there may be an organized ring that brings in kids from very poor countries and then operates on them to remove their organs in the UK and then sell them.
The other story begins with an observant woman prosecutor who went into a Roma camp in Greece with police when they conducted a drug raid. She noticed a little blonde head just poking out of the bed clothes in one house and investigated. It was a little girl about 4. She didn’t look like her “parents.” DNA tests proved she is not related to them. They gave conflicting stories as to how she came to be living with them. Apparently, the child had been sent out into the streets to beg. Now, Interpol is trying to figure out who she is and identify her parents.
It’s just so awful to think that children so young can be bought and sold like commodities. I know venting here doesn’t help anyone but the first story in particular upset me.
