OK, CC experts, a young colleague from China is taking her honeymoon trip to NYC in November.

I know that she is interested in and well versed in western art (have visited museums in the US with her) and architecture. I have not met her new husband, but I know that he is an industrial designer. I believe that she knows about and will visit the major museums. Her English is superb; no issues there.

It could be cold, but circle line for manhattan island or better yet, take the sail boat ride at night, tha mahattan night skys are impressive and unforgetable.

If she is doing art museums, tell her not to miss the jewel that is the Frick. Something else they might want to do is gallery-hopping in SoHo combined with brunch or lunch on a Sunday morning or Saturday. I’m not sure what it would be like in November, but the enormous outdoor sculpture “garden”–really, a sculpture estate --at Storm King just up the Hudson River valley sounds as if it would VERY much appeal to both of them. They would have to rent a car to get there, so they might want to combine it with a little more sightseeing by car in that direction. SUNY Purchse has quite a good art museum. I seem to recall a lot of Milton Averys in their collection. (I love his work.)

If they want to see some plays or shows on a budget, tell them about the TKTS booth near Times Square.

There’re tons of art museums in NYC :)! Before I clicked on this thread I was about to suggest the Museum of Natural History, but now I’m not sure she would be interested in that…

There are very few galleries left in Soho – the neighborhoods for that are in Chelsea or the Lower East Side. The New Museum is a good place to start there. If she is young, she should definitely explore the LES.
