a touching news article

its snowing outside :(

i listened to some Kylie Minogue music today, cool stuff…

Makes you wonder how many of these go unreported. In many ways the U.S. is more socialist than China right now.

Anyway the class divide in China and most other developing nations is really really bad now. Kinda shows how fortunate some of us are.

It’s snowing here, too. The whole campus is covered in snow…truly an amazing sight, and I took lots of pictures :)

put them on facebook then. Good stuff should be shared with friends.

talking about ‘wasting’ the whole weekend…gosh, we walked to a park on saturday and got lost on the way back. sometimes i really seem to believe that procrastination is a good thing. at least we get to play first…then work like a lunatic
what a day…math exam in the morning. then tried to learn the pieces for the concert tonight…ended up nearly killing the orchestra when i missed one count of a measure. i’m such a failure…

“At least we get to play first…then work like a lunatic” Huh, I like that. I guess I’m pretty much like that. I felt like I’d been slacking off for quite a while… Actually, I’m not just slacking off… Just trying to get myself on track again cos I’ve been so stressed lately, tortured by the unexpected, reality and divergence from my goals. I feel like I’m gonna crumble if I can’t make it to U of Rochester. It sucks when you’re a sophomore with a s**t load of work and then you still have to worry about transferring to another college. And all other stuff, that’s brain-racking. Life sucks, sometimes. Hope everybody’s doing great. It’s been snowing for the past few days up in Michigan. Gorgeous, yet freezing my but off when I try to scurry to classes.

guys… my research paper topic: i cant decide between:

-four modernizations and how that split the radicals and conservatives
-internet privacy/filtering inregards to human rights
-internet piracy

p.s. this is all about china

internet piracy

cuz i have no idea w t f any are

unless its just piracy…i can so write an essay on piracy in an hour

piracy in general is illegal use of copyrighted intellectual material… noninternet piracy would be buying bootlegs etc. internet piracy is like downloading mp3, having entire drama sets up for download… entire books of manga scans so people never have to pay for any intellectual material

lol, our thread’s growth has shown some slowing.

i haven’t been to homeland for half a decade; i can’t comment on those issues

people are probably getting buried by work

no one’s complaining in the last 2 days

just finished my last calc test
…yay!

I am doing a paper on comparing the American education system with that of China. Anyone has any complain for me to put on the paper?

lol Chinese system vs American. Its the difference between Hell and Heaven.

that’s not true. chinese education is not hell. it’s… different. one good thing about chinese education is that it’s TOTALLY the same. GPAs mean NOTHING really since EVERY school is different EVERY class is different EVERY teacher is different. How do you truely compare an A in slackerville to a B in exeter? China, you have one test. same question for the entire damn country. this is the only fair way… SAME questions whether you went to the crappiest school in the city or some prestigous firstrate school. SATs aren’t even totally fair because EVERYTIME the questions are different especially if they’re in the same year. You cannot compare two things that are not identically… there will always be differences.

yea I agree with xo but what I am trying to say in my paper is that Chinese education system is failing because it’s test-oriented. Although a lot Americans are complaining teachers are just teaching to tests, the education system they have now is actually much better than what we have in China. Another issue is, should we emphasize that much on science and math in China? It’s true that an average Chinese student can score higher on a math test than his American peers. but so what? Are Chinese students really benefiting from it? If yes, how come we still can’t make decent vehicles, can’t make supercomputers, can’t develop new (and important) softwares? Should we learn from American education system, that liberal arts are emphasized?
