Overdosing caffein can cause side effects. Like withdrawl, u know, I consumed so much during HS that whatever amount I consume now wouldn’t help me stay awake at all. Sigh… Take care, everyone.

withdrawl is when u stop, tolerance is when it dont work anymore. if u gonna be a drug addict u gotta get it right

I thought withdrawl is when you stop doing it and crave for it and get headaches if you dont do it… like heorine if you stop you shake and you turn pale and sweat and stuff

Yeah, you’re right. My bad.

hey, are most college online application websites (besides commonapp.org) accessible in China, such as Upenn’s, MIT’s… I am asking this because I remembered i couldn’t log on to Princeton’s online application page when I was in Bejing.

Hey I was just wondering how you guys get motivated? I am doing fine so far (I am in year 1 in a canadian university). I cram before finals, and I manage to get A’s and A+'s. However, I dont know where I am going. I am currently in this Math and Business administration double degree program from University of waterloo. It has produced some great minds so far. A lot of the grads are in the financial industry, doing thing like derivative trading and risk management and stuff, but I know financial professionals work long hours especially at the beginning of their career. I dont mind working long hours as an entry-level analyst, but MONEY DOESNT MOTIVATE ME, I don’t know why I am doing everything for. I feel that right now I am just studying hard to get A’s to please my parents…

ANY ADVICE?

Does ANYONE here want to form an ELITE group or something like that? I am not bragging or anything, I am NOT an elite myself (as of now, lol), but we all want to be successful in our lives, don’t we? Can we have this little group so that every one constantly updates on what they’ve been doing academically and socially and every one can benefit by sharing info, tips, and life experience? And I believe it’s also a great way for us to keep track on things especially when other ppl are working hard on school, coz you get motivated, don’t you? Even some little encouraging words can cheer me up when I am low.

I came to Canada at 13 so I have lost contacts with a lotta friends in China, they are all in such Elite schools as Peking, Tsinghua, Jiaotong, Shanghai School of Economics and Finance(?), Shanghai School of Foreign Language Studies(?), which I am glad to hear as a friend. I know there’s a lot of great things going on in each of these institutions, but like I said, me and my friends no longer keep in touch since grade 12, it’s a hectic time for those poor high school kids in china.

That being said, I would LOVE to know what is going on in all those Elite schools south of the border. Will anyone be interested in this? It can be really informal. You dont’ have to “report” to us about your daily life, but if you find something freshing or read some articles that offer great tips on life in general, would you like to share? I’d love to hear them!

OK, I will start first:

For the Year 2006, my goals are:
-to learn to design web pages, to learn some computer languages, - hey Java! ^^
-to take Canadian Securities Course
-to maintian an 85%+ overall average
-to either register for SAT or GRE (not planning on going to a college in the states or applying to grad school, i am doing that to challenge myself)

xmas: I hope to stay here and get some nice sleep, altho my parents insisted that I join them in China for a warm holiday. (It’s freezingly cold here in Waterloo!)

Huuuuuuhhhh…so I was reading this whole thread…and I am still on page 10, hmmm, I guess it will take me for ever to finish this…so I will stop for now.

but I find some conversations to be really amusing!!! Just want to say Hi to all the people engaged in the discussion. It’s nice to see you guys out here!

HELLO (do you hear me?) good nite everyone, and have a good weekend.

Tmr I am going to watch the Chronicales of Narnia- can’t wait!

~snow angel~

now,how did our converstation turn from schools in china to drugs???

lol, phoebe… the thread itself is already the “elite” thread you are talking about. things happens spontaneously. you ll see people talking about what you want to know. i understand that an “elite” group would contribute a lot of future business success, may be you realize that or your parents or teachers told you. there are a lot of people doing the “elite” group thing you presumed.

i guess you are first time posting here. so welcome, you meet a number of interesting people after i posted.

and i alwasy have a nasty habit… to guess the gender of new poster at chinese thread… hmmmn, i ll use my 11th sense…open the seasame door…i think you are a girl…

feel free to correct me… more fire cracker coming up

now, talking about what’s really going on in my school. i presented a project with my groupmates about Valkswagen company after reading a book about it. psychology exam coming up, then psych final follows(i don’t feel that i have developed Dissociative Identity Disorder yet). then going to virginia for Christmas. i love Christmas break, a quiet time, i can plot my naughty schemes…

good luck everyone

heys, guys, i am sorry to repeat this question, but its really kinda urgent, are most college online application websites (besides commonapp.org) accessible in China, such as Upenn’s, MIT’s… I am asking this because I remembered i couldn’t log on to Princeton’s online application page when I was in Bejing. thanks for your help

Princeton’s website was down for a while after ED apps closed. Try again. I don’t know why they would block college sites…

there are times a college’s online app experience tech difficulties. i never accessed online app pages in china. in case the pages are unaccessible by submission deadline, email the admission office first to expalin and submit your app in paper forms.

princeton…indeed a charming name…a lot of top figures on headlines came from there. most people graduated there give back a lot. virtually, students get the best of everything there… good luck…

I live practically next door to Princeton. It is a great campus however be prepared to spend a fortune on living costs. Course you can drive out of town but the stuff in town is just insanely expensive. 20 bucks for some pancakes. EEEK.

since now is the finals week. i ironically have more time…sigh…
sorry for the no show-up for a few weeks.

Well, welcome all the new people (if this has already been repeated overtime…sorry la
)

ED results are coming out soon…hehe. wish all the applicants good luck

$20 for a pancake…gosh… I will go to plainsboro soon, how is that city? maybe $19 for a pancake?..;)

alwaysfaithful- you can always use proxy if you really have to access any website. try multiproxy.org

phoebe- are you proposing for a mensa group? hehe… well, i believe everyone has his or her on unique qualities that truly shine. As tang said, it’s quite egalitarian here. Thanks for the proposal anyway.
meanwhile, school has just been sheerly busy… I had a really great art history class, it is a mixture of philosophy, art, and history with the emphasis on what makes the art hisotry discipline itself. the rest just have a bunch of work, challenging, but not necessarily too exciting.

peace.

Good luck for all of you who have finals next week. and welcome, new ppl!!! tang, i think phoebe is a guy, using my 12 th sence
