I like Chipotle but don’t have one close enough to frequent.
Plus, I always do think about this (not Chipotle) commercial from years back. One of my favorites.
@doschicos, I didn’t realize a company had bought Schlotzsky’s. It started in Austin and has always been one of my favorite sandwich places. But there aren’t any of them in Maine.
Now that you mention it, the last time I was in Austin and ate there, I wondered why they were serving Cinnabon!
I think one of my favorite things about Maine, @MaineLonghorn, is the lack of chain establishments. It’s pretty refreshing in this day and age, which I shouldn’t be saying as I was just called an old fogie on another thread.
I like Chipotle…and Moes. I don’t go to either of them often…but then, I don’t go to fast food places often…at all.
Hey…even Jack in the Box made a comeback after its issues.
One of the benefits of immigration, least in my area, is we have some wonder taquerias and the like, as well as Mexican food done by people from there and it beats anything Chipotle could do and for less money, too. There is a place in the next town over that does a breakfast burrito that is to die for:).
Still never been to one. Or a Starbucks.
Most of my family likes Chipotle, I prefer Rubio’s. At Chipotle I feel like I’m just throwing a mishmash of ingredients together that don’t necessarily go together well.
Chipotle to me is sort of like the Mexican fast food version of Subway.
And I like it a whole lot better than Taco Bell. Now…that is poison.
I can’t believe anyone eats at Taco bell, the food looks gross even on tv…
Here in the desert of Mexican food, Chipotle was a welcome addition. But after the numerous food poisoning incidents, especially the one at BC, I decided not to return. That many problems in that many locations is a systemic problem, and I don’t have confidence in their ability to fix it.
Anybody who has worked in a restaurant (or just read ‘Kitchen Confidential’) knows that eating out is a dicey prospect anyway, and I have the time and means to minimize my risk.
Cafe Rio is a much better alternative to Chipotle, IMO. One just opened around here and so far I am quite impressed. They claim that everything is made from scratch, including the tortillas. Food quality is the best I’ve seen of any fast casual chain.
Chipoltle is fine. You get to pick what you want in your bowl or burrito and the ingredients are fresh. I actually like Taco Bell on occasion. A bean burrito or small taco hits the spot sometimes.
I’ve been known to eat a 2AM chalupa.
When I was in grad school back on the Stone Age, my cohorts and I always had a Monday evening class. About 12 of us had dinner together between our afternoon classes and that one evening class…every Monday for a year. Taco Bell had a special…2 tacos and a large soda for…$1. We got 12 specials every week, and someone picked them up. We either ate at a friends house or in the grad lounge in our department.
I swore I would never eat Taco Bell again. But I totally enjoyed it that year.
I can get a healthy 570 calorie salad that fills me up at Chipotle. Works for me!
I might be crazy but I have a small theory that my aunt kind of lead me onto… Apparently Chipotle has never really used meat that was government involved… in that, I mean they used the fresh local ingredients and not stuff that the government regulated (or something along those lines. I can’t remember the exact words my aunt used). Wouldn’t it make sense that the government would want to put out a business that doesn’t support them, per say? Is it possible that the government started this whole propaganda on Chipotle to hinder their business? Now, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, I think most of them are plain crazy and have no evidence to back them up. I’m not the type of person to believe crazy theories that were put out there (i.e. the Mandela Effect). But I really thought that this one made sense given the circumstances.
Disclaimer: I prefer Qdoba anyways so I’m not too affected by any of this.
Love Chipolte. I started eating at it when there were just a few locations in Denver (I’ve been to Chipolte #1). When my daughter was in the NICU, the nurses used to do a Chipolte run and included a few of us who were there long term, so to me it was a break from hospital cafeteria food. That same NICU baby was the pickiest eater in the world, but she’d eat what we came to call the ‘white burrito’ from Chipolte’s - tortilla, white rice (no green specks, and they’d give her rice before the cilantro was mixed in), cheese and sour cream.
She grew up to work at Moe’s, but she actually prefers Chipotle (and now will eat the green specks and guac and chicken)
inicole, that is a very low chance of happening. we have seen many examples of the government abusing it’s power the IRS, EEOC, Department of Justice, EPA etc… is used to attack opponents. if the government wanted to punish Chiptole it could just use the USDA , EEOC etc…, file charges against them for whatever reason and just drop them later on if they are bogus but the damage is done. so if you ask does the government abuse it’s power yes it happens all the time. but not that way.
