My S got accepted UG in UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego and Rice University for Biochem major and also one BAMD program at Washington and Jefferson College/Temple medical school. His aim is medicine. Since we are CA residence out of pocket for UC is around 35000. For W and J he has 25000 scholarship so out of pocket is 29000. For Rice is 58000 with 8000 work study loan but S likes Rice. Any comment what to pick when we are only middle class? S seems to like private school but not sure…

Rice’s extra cost likely means a lot of extra debt by the end of medical school.
The program needs to keep 3/5 GPA and MCAT of 31 which are basic for all medical school applications. I am just concern if he changes his mind during junior or later…then his opportunities for good reputation UG are wasted…
