I am not looking for an undergrad major to “give me better chances”. I am looking for something with some overlap with pre-med requirements so I won’t be overwhelmed. I am looking for something that will allow me to have a good plan B in case I don’t get in anywhere.

I have considered BME, but after reading many posts in the engineering forums, it seems like it is hard to find work.

I have also considered ChemE, since I hear good aid is given for this major at certain places (e.g. UMich).

I am not interested in something concentrated more than 70% in biology. It seems too bland and one track to me (“must have best chance at med school or else!!”)

I will not consider any art, writing, or humanities majors. I am not at all interested in these areas as a major.

What other options do I have?

Also, more specifically about BME. Is the undergrad degree nearly useless? Is it more research heavy at the undergrad level than say a bio major?

This may also seem like a stupid question, but isn’t it hard to apply a ChemE degree? It seems like one of those majors where it’s mostly theory and/or major discoveries are very hard to find.
