Choosing between an introductory Chemistry, or Material science class

I’m starting my first year as an electrical engineering undergrad, and I have to choose between General Chemistry or Material Science as one of my courses. I did take an honors chemistry class my sophomore year of high school, but I never took AP chem. Does an intro material science course assume an in depth background in chemistry? And which one would ultimately be a better class to take for an EE major?

the pros and cons of each as I see it are:

Chemistry
Pros: has a great teacher (according to online reviews)
Cons: Is a huge class (260 kids), is early in the morning, bunch of pre-meds

Material Science
Pros: later in the morning, smaller class (50 kids)
Cons: OK teacher (according to online reviews)

I’d appreciate it if anyone could give me input as to which course to select, as I have to decide within the next few days. It ultimately boils down to which course would better serve me in my EE persuit, and of course whether or not material science assume you already know chem very well (because I really don’t).

Thanks in advance

materials science & properties course (i’m taking it the coming fall) only requires the first semeester of general chemistry @ the college level. i took gen chem my first year and the 1st sem i thought was pretty easy. it went over stuff (if you had a good chem program in h.s. i would recommend getting out of it).

there is no point to taking that MSE course however if your an EE major, unless you plan on having a concentration in biomedical engineering (this is the case with me). and if you’re not just take the gen chem course to get it out of the way, since chemistry is pretty useless as well for most EE majors.
