Help me out…so, when do we pick our classes? Also, is there any way to finish a five-year course in four years? What’s in the dorm room when we get there? Do you suggest any items? When do we get our “packages” that include housing options and meal plans and such?

hmm. dorm rooms have 2 beds (duh), 2 dressers, 2 desks, a mirror (size depends on the room), and 2 trash cans. I DEFINITELY suggest you bring a rug because most of the floors are hardwood (except the AC dorms I think). Fans are a must. Bring a floor lamp or something to brighten up the room because the ceiling lights kind of suck. If you want extra seating wait until you see the room or buy something that folds. Other than that the usual.

I believe the matriculant packages come sometime around late may/early june…and that has most of the info you need. You don’t get to pick your housing really…just roommate info and all, or subfree/performing arts dorm stuff…and you should find out about that near the end of the summer.

Class registration happens sometime around midsummer…you’ll hear more about that later. It’s all done online and everything.

What do you mean by five-year course in four years?

For AC dorms, you can (obviously) skip the fan. Randolph and Blackwell have carpet, so you don’t need to bring a rug if you’re in either of those. Only caution there is to be EXTREMELY careful about stains - take it from me, they’re a ***** to get out.

How are the triples?

I knew 2 groups of people who had triples…and they loved them. This isn’t to say a lot of people get thrown into them…but the rooms were huge, so space was never really an issue. I highly doubt you’ll get one unless you request one.

I agree with the stain thing. My roommate and I found it was best to just get a cheap, off white $24 rug from Lowes, and we just donated it at the end of this year. Its just not really worth keeping because they do get kind of gross.

i actually am requesting 1 w/ two other ppl I know, we decided to do the Triple cuz we’ve heard its a lot nicer

triples are big and really nice i am going to miss my triple

So triples are nice and spacious, but do they have any social downfalls or perks, as in because you have two roomates, there’s more fun to be had but also more negotiating of room rules, etc?

well on weeknights especially coming late from the library or somewhere, you have to be more aware of the room surroundings because there might be two ppl sleeping in there. You just have to watch out for things like that, that might split the three of you into a 2 vs 1 situation which is generally bad. But this year for me, I don’t think there was more negotiating of room rules, everybody sort of understood that there are just more to be aware of in a triple and tried to follow them.
