Choosing classes

I’m picking my classes for next year right now and I have one class to fill that I’m not sure what to take. I’m thinking either AP Microeconomics or AP Statistics. I really want to take AP Psychology, but the psychology teacher at my school is apparently terrible and all my friends have advised me not to take it…so I guess that’s out.

Between Microeconomics and Statistics…which do you think is more useful and enjoyable? Does one or the other look better to colleges (I really don’t care about that much, but as I’m neutral, I was curious)? Is one more work than another?

Just as background–I’m planning to go into English or History, or some form of Humanities. I enjoy taking advanced classes and I’m academically interested in those classes, but I don’t plan to go into either economics or math/accounting/etc, so in terms of college/career, there’s no reason I should take one over another.

Good question. Microeconomics can be a hassle. It requires a lot of time in the books. Statistics can be time consuming and boring, too, yet you can use some of the logic. If you are not already inclined to numbers and plan on never dealing with numbers again, take this class because you will learn how to interpret sorted data which can be useful as a history major when looking at charts, graphs etc…

Just some advice from a history major who uses stats as historical evidence.
