choosing college with housing in ca or wa

i need some info on cc with dorm in california and washington.i want to do major in anthropology or sociology.
i’ve looked up edmonds community college in washington,it has housing at reasable rate right at the campus.
another choise is santa barbara community college,it has no housing, but it has listed some property on their site.but commute seems to be a issue, unless there is some closer housing option under 8k per year.
another thing, california cc seems to offer semester system wheras washington are based on quarterly.is there is significant difference or any which is harder?

The College Board College Matchmaker finds 31 community colleges with housing in CA and WA. You can narrow the search more for your major, and then check the websites of each CC.

Some students prefer semesters, some prefer quarters. It really is up to you.

I am currently enrolled in a WA state community college that operates on a quarter system. I personally prefer semesters, but it really is a personal choice. Under a quarter-system, students take less classes (3, generally) for less time (10ish weeks), while under a semester-system, students take more classes (4, generally) for more time (15ish weeks). I would prefer to spend more time in each of my classes, as I often feel that I peak a week or so before the quarter ends, but understand the feeling of juggling too many classes that some associate with semesters.
I have a few friends who live on-campus at EdCC and really enjoy it, but most of the people I know who go there have found other housing near campus and seem to prefer that.
