When should we begin choosing our courses for the fall? (I know we register for them at orientation)
Do I meet with an advisor first? Or can I look somewhere online and map out my first year?
And what about honors courses?
I have many questions, hah
Also, for honors students, do we have an advantage with registering for classes, even though all new freshman do it at orientation?
Links and information would be greatly appreciated!!!

ok, here we go, you really shouldn’t worry about classes to orientation but if you really want a headstart then I guess you could look at the academic map ( [Academic Program Guide, Majors and Academic Maps | fsu.edu](http://www.academic-guide.fsu.edu/) )and choose courses which satisfies requirements.( https://cfprod.ais.fsu.edu/anr/CourseRequirementsView/index.cfm?ORIGIN=J&app=PUBLIC )

lastly become familiar with the course searcher, you will use it to pick classes at orientation. Honors students get priority when registering for classes so you will always find an open spot for the class you want, alos they have really interesting seminars every semester.
[Course Lookup Search Form](http://apps.oti.fsu.edu/RegistrarCourseLookup/SearchForm)

The Summer and Fall 2008 course schedules will be available on 2/25/08.

You do get to meet with an academic advisor, grouped by major, during orientation before you register for classes. First you get a large group meeting (like the entire orientation group) for info about the undergrad requirements (I think honors kids get a separate freshman meeting discussing the honors requirements). Then you go to another advising meeting specified for your major, to learn about the requirements for your major. It’s not a one-on-one meeting with your advisor, but you can ask questions that you need to during the meeting. You also will be given time to do your course searches during this meeting to plan out a schedule, and get an advisor to look at it/approve it. Don’t worry about which classes you can and can’t get into, they open different sections for the major classes for each orientation group. Also, the vast majority of people will change their schedule several times after orientation, during the summer and/or during drop/add week.

If you want to look ahead of time for classes and plan ahead, the Academic Program Guide link that Fsu-uf sent is really helpful. Usually you can also go to the website for your major to find a few recommended academic maps/guides. Also this site, [Florida State University Registrar](<a href=“FSU Registrar | Error 404 page not found”>Page Moved) is very long, but very helpful. It discusses your requirements for liberal studies as well as gives you a long list of courses that can fulfill these requirements.

Also, from what I’ve heard from my friends who were already accepted in honors when they came for orientation, they don’t remember getting to register early during orientation. That perk starts up when you sign up for your spring classes I think. (But when you apply for spring you get to apply for classes as soon as the registration opens, when the seniors get to sign up too). However of course there will be plenty of room for you in your honors seminar, as well as any honors courses you plan to take which other students can’t sign up for.

Very helpful information FSUGIRL07!

Thanks to everyone!
