Choosing where to apply..

Okay, so just some background information here…

GPA (unweighted)- 2.6
GPA (weighted)- 2.9
SAT (/1600)- 1010
Class Rank above 50%
Good recs, not many extra curriculars…

What are my chances for:
-West Virginia U
-UMass Amherst
-SUNY Stony Brook
-C.W. Post
-SUNY Buffalo
-SUNY Albany
-Michigan State U
-Kentucky U
-Alabama U

And give me a top 3 of the colleges I have the greatest chance getting into.

We need to know your home state to chance you. Can you pay full freight?

Home State is North Carolina. I am able to pay in full, I might need a little financial help for CW Post.

Why are you not considering North Carolina State University?

I think you have a decent chance at Alabama and Kentucky, West Virginia as well.

-West Virginia U: In
-UMass Amherst: No
-SUNY Stony Brook: In
-C.W. Post: In
-SUNY Buffalo: No
-SUNY Albany: Borderline
-Michigan State U: No
-Kentucky U: Borderline
-Alabama U: Borderline/In

North Carolina does not have a great selection of “B-Student” colleges for my major. North Carolina State and especially UNC-Chapel Hill are VERY difficult to get into. Some of my friends last year were denied with 3.6s and 3.7s.

And also, I thought Stony Brook was mildly difficult as well. Thank you guys for your inquiries, I’d love to see some more advice.

If you apply now you could be accepted to Alabama. Great school. Is your weighted gpa on your transcript

^^^

Just wanted to add to my above post…

I’ve recently learned that altho Alabama doesn’t require an essay or teacher recs for admission, if you’re concerned that you might be “borderline,” Alabama will give extra consideration to those students who submit an essay and/or teacher recs.

I don’t know if there is an essay prompt, or if they’ll just accept any essay that you may have written for an English class as a writing sample. I’ll try to find out and post here for you.

Alabama has an awesome campus (was there today!) - strong academics, super facilities, and very nice dorms. Oh, and it has a football team ;)

Stony Brook, MSU and UMass are not likely. C.W. Post and WVU are likely. Best of luck!

Right now I am looking at WVU as a strong possibility. Do I have a good chance for OOS admission?

WVU… [West Virginia University](http://www.wvu.edu)

COA for OOS is $27,000

The school isn’t ranked very well. Is it worth it to spend so much money on a third tier school? Just wondering? You could go to a better school. You’d get accepted to a better school. :)

What are the facilities like? What is the housing like? Would the school provide a “full campus experience” for you?

I hope that you apply to The University of Alabama. Better ranked school, awesome campus, incredible housing, etc. If you apply now, you will get accepted. If you wait until later, your chances will weaken.

isn’t ua thierd tier and 27,000 for out of state? lol

Consider adding Kansas and Indiana in place of Stony/MSU

What stats are needed to get into North Carolina State?

Which SUNYs do you like?

Do you like any small privates or just larger publics?

Have you visited any of the schools on your list? Would you be able to visit any of them within the next few months or so?

And to allskillz, Alabama is NOT 3rd tier. LOL
It’s ranked higher than FSU, do you consider FSU as 3rd tier?
