How is Yale for religious life? Does it have an active churches that help out and volunteer in New Haven? I sk because I have never really had a church life and I want to start in college.

Try Georgetown.

Churches are EVERYWHERE and Yale is proud to tell you that volunteering in the community is a necessary part of student life.

^^That’s good to hear. Georgetown does not have as good financial aid as Yale does.

There is a very vibrant Christian community at Yale, of every variety. Battell Chapel, on campus, is a lovely place to worship, and there are many, many churches in the surrounding area. [Yale University | The University Church](<a href=“Chaplain's Office |”>Chaplain's Office |)

There are also Christian student groups, such as the Yale Christian Fellowship (part of Intervarsity) and others.

I think you will find it is harder to become a Christian in college than it is at a younger age.

I disagree, i don’t think it’s easier or harder based on age. If you want to become a Christian, there really isn’t an age obstacle.

And as to the Georgetown comment, I dont know if the original asker of this question meant like protestant christianity, because Georgetown is a Jesuit school–meaning Catholic. It’s very different down there. I remember sitting through a religious class at Georgetown and I just couldn’t sit still. I just wanted to argue every single point, (being from a Protestant- Christian background)

A lot of the Catholics (I don’t know if you are) go to St Mary’s which is snuggled between some of the Yale buildings on a beautiful street. It’s the oldest Catholic church in the state (Domincan)and they have volunteer opportunities along with Battell. They have many masses too to appeal to the students.
Some Yale football players were on a Catholic station last year (EWTN) talking about faith and how they stay on track at school. They do seem to have clubs and opportunities for anyone.

Heh, as long as they have JEWISH life at Yale, I’m good. =P

I agree you can become a Christian at any age, I just think it would be more difficult to do so in a college environment in a overwhelmingly secular school.

91% of Christians become so prior to age 14. Barna survey…
