I thought I’d post this on the parents section since people on the “college life” would call me a loser for this post…

Some churches, including mine, have a program called “Silver Ring Thing” for high schoolers. It’s a program that stresses abstinence. Now I can’t seem to find an equivalent for college, so I was wondering if anyone:

Knows if a college abstinence program similar to this exists

If so, should I set it up through a church or through college activities

If I want to set it up, how should I get signatures for a petition, since I feel as if I’m the only one who believes in abstinence throughout college campuses nationwide?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I looked at their web page and SRT seems to be geared to HS age students. Call them to see if and how college aged students would fit in their program.

If there is an opportunity for college groups to participate in SRT here is what I suggest. Many if not most college clubs are funded through student activity fees and run through a student union. They will have a proceedure for forming a new club and for funding its activities. Chech your college’s web site to see if this is the way things are set up there. Another option would be to set up a program w/i a preexisting student Christian organization as one activity of their overall program.

I don’t know about special abstinence programs…but there are many large-scale Christian organizations such as Campus Crusade for Christ…would something like that meet your needs?

Also, you can meet some people through the campus Christian organizations and see if there is a demand to help create adn abstinence program if you wish to do so.
