I have been RACKING my brain to find a great gift for my sister, but I’m lost. She just recently graduated from college with a double major in Education and Dance. She’s currently student teaching, but her current dream is to be a dancer before being a teacher. She wants to start out on cruise lines, but I think she doubts her ability to make it in the real world.

Does anyone have any gifts that would fit for her? My parents have been getting her very “teacher friendly” gifts and I–a musical theatre major–want to get her something to show my support for her Dancer self, or at least some inspiration.

Get her a bunch of the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movies, you can’t miss with Tophat and Swingtime, and Roberta and The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle are two great ones also, though somewhat overlooked.

What about some new dance sneakers, tap shoes, jazz shoes or some new cute clothes to work out in-maybe a gift certificate to one of the dance suppliers like Dance Distributors or something like that? A new dance bag might be nice too.

I like Audi’s suggestion of dance clothing (leg warmers?), a dance bag, or a gift certificate to a dance store or catalogue.

I got carried away and distracted from my work (shopping is fun) and researched some gift ideas for you online (I shop online mostly) and I don’t know your price range.

Here are ideas I found that seem appropriate:

“Believe in Yourself, Just Dance” throw (seems to fit the situation!) for $36.99 here:
[BELIEVE IN YOURSELF THROW-Dance Shoes, Dancewear, Dance Apparel, Jazz Shoes, Tap Shoes, Dance Clothing, Dance Supplies, Dance Wear, Cheerleading Apparel, Cheerleading Uniforms, Cheerleading Shoes, Cheerleading Megaphones, Cheer Pom Poms, Ballet Tight](http://shop.justforkix.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HC-10)

yeah, dance clothing/supplies can get pricey! if you’re really uncertain of what she needs, a gift cert to a dance store and a promise to go shopping with her would be nice (i’m pretty sure i’m not the only dancer girl who drools at the sight of the new capezio catalog…)

depending on where you live (near a major city?) you could also investigate if there are any really good dance studios that offer open/drop-in classes. i know there’s a few in my area that you can buy a gift certificate to a few classes, so she could try out some new styles and so forth.
