Christopher Program

I live in Franklin County, Ohio, and for Junior and Senior years I have the option of applying to the “Christopher Program”. Here’s some very limited information - all I could find online - to give you an idea of what it is…

I will almost certainly apply for the program my Senior year, but I’m debating whether to apply for the “Two-Year Experience” and do it Junior year, too. It would take up three periods in my schedule, but I’d be getting English, Humanities, and Fine Arts credits via CP that my school would recognize. I’d still be taking Community College classes during school-year and Summer quarters, and it wouldn’t hinder grad requirements. Since I’ll most likely be applying to colleges as some type of humanities major, one of my concerns is that it might look like a cop-out of the Humanities and English APs, since I probably wouldn’t have room in my schedule for both. I’m not too worried about killing the balance in my applications with such a humanities-heavy program, because I’m a few years “ahead” in math (though not by CC standards! ) and doing quite well, and while I’m certainly not a natural in the sciences, I’ve done a lot of courses in Psychology and Sociology (a nice mix between the two, I think) independent of the school and I’m motivated to keep up with the most rigorous Science curriculum at my school. I’m not making my decision based solely on how it will appear to colleges, but it is a factor, and I’d like your input!

Disclaimer: I wouldn’t be applying to either option until at least Spring of next year, just trying to plan ahead.

I’d LOVE input from anyone who’s gone through this program or a similar one! Thanks!

Sorry for the novel, just trying to save everyone some time and answer the obvious questions myself  .

No… why is it a cop out? Who says that you will learn more in an AP class than if you have the time to explore everything on your own? I’m a firm believer that if you are interested in it, you will learn more with time to yourself than being forced to follow a limited curriculum in school.

I wish I could have done a program like that.

I agree, quitejaded, I wouldn’t be considering the program if I didn’t. My question was regarding how colleges will see this program.
